ANIMA in schools

ANIMA implements educational programmes approved by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. Their aim is for students of all age groups and educational levels to get to know and love the wildlife of Greece.

What does wildlife mean? Are there hawks and foxes in the city? Do owls and guenons fly outside our window every night? Do hedgehogs and turtles hide in our garden? Who would tell us…

Wild nature is everywhere and triumphant!

Come and get to know together the wildlife species of our country, their habits, the threats they face and much more through three educational programmes.

Getting to know ANIMA and Wildlife in the City

We learn about the animals of the urban ecosystem and the dangers they face through colourful pictures, videos and fun hands-on activities including kinesthetic games and crafts. We discuss current issues related to biodiversity conservation and learn about ANIMA's work in the field of wildlife care.

The programme takes place in your school.

Journey to Freedom

We become explorers and venture out into the countryside to study wild animals in their natural habitat. We learn about first aid and animal care through hands-on activities, discuss real-life stories of injured or sick animals, and get to know some of our little "wild" friends. At the end, we feed animals in care together or watch them being released into the wild. The program (depending on the season, weather conditions, and the animals that have been rehabilitated and are ready for release) takes place outside of school at two outdoor locations:

a) in the Diomidis Botanical Garden - where injured animals are accommodated in a special rehabilitation area b) in the Aesthetic Forest of Kaisariani - where animals will be released.

Online Programme

We learn about the wildlife of Greece through an interactive program that includes entertaining videos and a tour of the ANIMA First Aid Station facilities. We meet wild animals under care and discuss real-life incidents and how to deal with them.

The programmes are aimed at students from pre-school to high school and last for one hour. The content and activities are adapted according to the age group involved.
