ANIMA offers educational programs approved by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. Their aim is for students of all age groups and educational levels to get to know and love Greece’s wildlife.
What does wildlife mean? Are there hawks and foxes in the city? Do scops owls fly outside our windows at night? Are there hedgehogs and turtles hiding in our gardens? Who would have thought…
Wild nature is everywhere around us!
Let’s get to know together the wildlife species of our country, their habits, the threats they face and much more through three educational programs.
Getting to know ANIMA and the City's Wildlife
We learn about the animals of the urban ecosystem and the dangers they face through colourful pictures, videos and fun interactive activities including kinesthetic games and crafts. We discuss current issues related to biodiversity conservation and learn about ANIMA's work in the field of wildlife care.
The program takes place in your school.
Journey to Freedom
We become explorers and venture out into the countryside to study wild animals in their natural habitat. We learn about first aid and animal care through hands-on activities, discuss true stories of injured or sick animals, and meet some of our little "wild" friends in real life. At the end, we feed together animals in care or watch them being released into the wild. The program (depending on the season, the weather conditions and the animals that have been rehabilitated and are ready for release) takes place outside of school at two outdoor locations:
a) in the Diomedes Botanical Garden - where injured animals are accommodated in a special rehabilitation area b) in the Aesthetic Forest of Kaisariani - where animals are released.

Online Program
We learn about Greece's wildlife species through an interactive program that includes entertaining videos and a tour of ANIMA's First Aid Station facilities. We meet wild animals under care and discuss real-life incidents and how to deal with them.
The programs are aimed at students of pre-school to high school age and last for one class period. The content and activities are adapted according to the age group involved.
